Star Liverpool player missing from training and is doubtful for the Crystal Palace clash 1

After a hard-fought victory over West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool continued their good form in the League Cup even after making 11 changes to knock Tottenham Hotspur out of the competition to book a place in the quarter-final.

They will welcome Leeds to Anfield at the end of the next month but Klopp will be aware that he should now turn his attention towards the Premier League where they travel to the Selhurst Park this weekend.

The Reds are currently level on points at the top of the table with Manchester City and Arsenal and Klopp will hope that they can continue their good form and come away with all three points this weekend.

So it is not a surprise to see the Liverpool players out training hard ahead of this game on Saturday.

Crystal Palace has been a hard opponent in recent times for the Anfield outfit as they have not been able to beat Pardew’s side for more than a couple of games now.

Christian Benteke, who moved to Palace from Liverpool this summer will have a point to prove and will be a big threat on the night and the visitors will need to be at their full strength to entertain chances of a victory this weekend.

However, they were dealt a small blow yesterday as versatile midfielder James Milner was missing from the training session on Thursday.

Pictures released by the official Liverpool site show the Reds in high spirits before the Palace game but there was one noticeable absentee for this game in James Milner.

Here are a few of those pictures released:

The former England international moved to Liverpool on a free transfer last summer and has become an important player for the side this season.

Jurgen Klopp is not happy with the returns of first choice left-back Alberto Moreno and has used James Milner extensively in that position this season. The versatile midfielder has been exceptional at the back for the Reds, solving their defensive problems to a certain extent this season.

He has also been prolific in front of goal scoring more than a couple of penalties and helping his side to a few points already this season.

As already mentioned, Palace is not a side Liverpool have good memories against recently and they will need their full strength squad for this game to take all three points and maintain their place at the top of the table.

So the absence of James Milner will come as a huge blow for the Reds.

Though he is not officially ruled out of this game, Milner, if does not make it into the starting XI, will affect Liverpool’s chances of taking all three points from this game.

Do you think James Milner will be fit enough for the game against Palace?
