Arsenal have been in great form this premier league season. Reportedly the London side is keeping a close eye on PSV starlet Matthias Verreth to strengthen their squad. The young player has made six appearances for the first team this season. He made his debut for Eindhoven this February.
Verreth excelled in the under-17 European Championships in 2014/15 where he showed what he is all about. He helped the Belgian under-17 side make it to the semifinals of the prestigious tournament.
Verreth naturally plays as a right winger but also possesses the ability to play on the opposite wing which is an added advantage to whichever side he is playing for. He has been hailed as the next Dries Mertens as he can play both as a striker and an attacking midfielder. The player has successfully grabbed the attention of some European sides and Arsenal are said to be among them.
Arsenal are currently placed second in the English premier league with 23 points from 10 games which are quite extraordinary. Only a goal difference of 2 separates them from the league leaders Manchester City. As the January transfer market opens Arsenal would like to grab the Belgian starlet which is sure to give them more attacking options up the field.
But Verreth has a current deal with PSV Eindhoven which keeps him at the Dutch side till 2019. This might be a possible block for the European giants to secure his signature. However, Arsenal has already sent scouts to watch him in Holland while Ac Milan are also interested in the talented youngster.
