Rohit Sharma is hurt after the ball hit him on his hand.

Rohit Sharma, the opener of Indian cricket team in limited overs cricket, has been ruled out of for a period of 10-12 weeks due to the thigh strain which he suffered during the final ODI against New Zealand. This means that he will also mean the Test, ODI, and T20 against England which leaves India with no specialist batsman at the top. The experiment to play Ajinkya Rahane at the top during the New Zeland ODIs was not a success, hence captain may be reluctant to give him any more chance at the top.

Though the limited over games after 2 months away but still it the opening pair headache will give pain to limited overs captain M.S. Dhoni from now only.

In a tweet, BCCI has stated that Rohit Sharma will fly to London next week to meet the medical consultant who will study Rohit’s case and will then any further decision will be made regarding what is to be done. The information provided by BCCI is is enough to know about the intensity of the injury which Rohit Sharma has suffered.

Rohit was not just the only player to get injured in the series against New Zealand as there is a long list of players who were injured during the season opener of Indian cricket team. The list includes players like KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina. New Zealand camp also suffered some causalities as Tim Southee, Mark Craig, Jimmy Neesham were the players from that camp to get injured. Surely, it has not been a good start for Indian season and its effects will be soon visible.

However, an injury to Rohit has now opened the doors for Karun Nair to remain in the team for long as captain may try him in the  middle order if he sees no place for him at the top.
