Surprise: Arsenal Summer Signing Tops the Interception Chart This Weekend 1

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates stadium by Tottenham on Sunday. Arsenal took the lead in the first half as Tottenham’s Wimmer headed the ball into his own net from an Ozil free kick. Arsenal had a few more chances to double their lead in the first half itself but they could not take it. Tottenham got back into the match later in the second hald when Harry kane scored from the penalty spot. Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele was fouled by Laurent Koscielny in the penalty box leading to the penalty.

It was a cagey match and Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi had been kept busy by the Tottenham players. Mustafi is proving out to be quite an impressive summer signing by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as the german international tops the interception chart this weekend. Mustafi played a key role in protecting Arsenal’s goal in the match as Tottenham failed to score from open play once again.

Arsenal are however unbeaten in their last 16 games in all competitions which is quite extraordinary. Mustafi made 8 interceptions in the match which is not only the highest of the match but also the highest of the weekend. The second highest interceptions was also made by a Arsenal player, Nacho Monreal who made 7 interceptions in the game.
