Bizarre: Mohit Sharma Reveals The Reason For His Poor Form 1

For a short period of time, Mohit Sharma became Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s go-to man. His ability to consistently stick to one line made him quite an effective bowler in the powerplay. He first grabbed the limelight when Dhoni consistently included him in the playing eleven of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2013 and he repaid the faith with some brilliant performances. He duly received a call for the Zimbabwe tour after his IPL heroics and, he once again justified Dhoni and selectors’ faith by bagging the Man of the Match award on his ODI debut.

After some unimpressive performances, he received a surprise call for the 2015 World Cup in Australia after senior pacer Ishant Sharma was ruled out due to injury. And just like the previous occasions, he did not disappoint his captain as he finished the tournament with an impressive tally of 13 wickets from 8 matches and played an important role in India’s progress to the semi-final.

However, he has now fallen completely out of favour with the national selectors after a dismal performance during the South Africa series last year. He was taken to cleaners by South African batsmen in the final match of the series when he conceded 84 runs in 7 overs. His series stats were not impressive either as he could take only five wickets in 4 matches and had an economy of almost seven.

Now the bowler has revealed the reason behind his sudden loss of form and it is as bizarre as one can think of. The bowler has said that his receding hairline played a big role in his dismal performance with the ball.

“I realised I was losing hair, and it really affected my confidence big time, which in turn affected my bowling,” the Haryana pacer was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

Well, the bowler is once again showing the form that helped him win his first India cap. He has picked 16 wickets in five Ranji Trophy games and will look to continue the form to strengthen his case for a spot in the international squad.
