Fielding has become an indispensable part of modern cricket. With the latest innovations and new rules tilting the game in batsmen’s favour, the importance of fielding has become greater than ever. And probably that is one of the biggest reasons why South Africa has been arguably the most consistent sides in last two decades. The Proteas always boasts some of the finest fielders of the game, which make the opposition work hard for every run.
Their world class fielding was once again on display during the second Test of the three-match series against Australia. Faf du Plessis’ men made life tough for the Australian team with some brilliant catches but it was JP Duminy who stole the show with a stunning catch. The hosts were reeling at 66 for 7 and Duminy piled more misery on them when he pulled off a screamer at gully, diving one-handed to his right to end Mitchell Starc’s short stay at the crease. The catch was so unbelievable that even the bowler was left shell-shocked.

Meanwhile, the Aussies, who are trailing 1-0 in the series, are in danger of losing this Test too after being dismissed for a paltry total of 85. In reply, the visitors ended the day on 171 for 5.
