The former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly, has batted for Ishant Sharma ahead of Umesh Yadav for the second Test, which starts on November 17 as he says, “I think same eleven. Maybe they could bring in Ishant Sharma in place of Umesh Yadav. Umesh Yadav has not been picking the wickets. He promised a lot but does not do the job. So I think it should it Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma.”
Ganguly has cited a legitimate reason to include him in the squad as he has highlighted the number of left-handers present in the team. Really, this can help the Indian team as in the last game, the Indian bowlers struggled to get the wickets of opposition batsmen, “There are a lot of left-handers in this England team and Ishant Sharma will be able to take the ball away from the left-handers. Also, his last trip to England when he picked up 7 wickets at Lords and India won the Test match and Ishant played a crucial role. So I think Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami would be my two fast bowlers provided Mohammad Shami is fit. He had a hamstring niggle throughout the Test match. So that is an area the team needs to look at,” quoted Sourav Ganguly.
The scattered Indian bowling line-up, surprisingly, was finding it difficult to trap England batsmen. As a result, England piled up a mammoth total of 309 in the third innings. Indian team was never in the race of chasing that total, they just had to go for a draw, still, they lost six wickets in no time relying on Virat Kohli and R. Ashwin to rescue the team. India team escaped a loss by a niggle and have to be vigilant in the next game. The inclusion of Ishant Sharma will benefit the team as captain will look to make the best use fo his experience and good form against this team. However, dropping Umesh will not be easy as he bowled well in the last game but lacked support from the fielders, the main reason why his numbers show poor figures at the end of the day.
