The discarded Indian batsman, Shikhar Dhawan, is set to make a comeback in Ranji Trophy as the left-handed batsman is set to play in the seventh round of Ranji Trophy for Delhi when they play against Rajasthan at Wayanad.
“Shikhar has fully recovered from the left thumb fracture and is fit to play competitive cricket again. His rehab is also complete and has gone back to National Cricket Academy for a final check-up. He has told me that he will be joining the squad directly in Wayanad from Bengaluru. Shikhar’s presence will certainly bolster the side,” Bhaskar told PTIduring the training session on the day.
Shikhar Dhawan last played competitive cricket in the month of September when he played the second Test against New Zeland at. He was injured during the game when he was hit by an uprising delivery from Trent Boult. He has been out of competitive cricket since then.
Dhawan went to N.C.A. to get cleared and fit for Ranji Trophy. After being shown a green signal by N.C.A., he is set to make a comeback in domestic cricket.
He will be opening the innings along with skipper Unmukt Chand. But there is a twist in the tail as if Gautam Gambhir fails to sustain his place in Test team , it will be Gambhir and Dhawan who will open the innings for Delhi. This will be quite interesting as both the players will have the same goal, to eclipse the performance of each other to get a recall from India cricket team.
