Biographical films on cricketers are the latest trend in the Indian film industry. The fans have already witnessed movies on Mohammad Azharuddin and MS Dhoni this year and are bracing up for the biopic of Sachin Tendulkar.
On the similar lines when Sharmila Tagore, wife of legendary cricketer MAK Pataudi, was asked during an award ceremony whether she would like to see a biopic on her husband, she asked in affirmative.
One of the greatest captains to lead India, he took charge of the team at an early age of 21, few months after losing sight in his right eye due to a car accident. But that did not deter him from playing cricket and he went on to lead the country in 40 of 46 Tests he played in.
Expressing her desire to see a movie on her husband, Sharmila Tagore said that the cricketer’s life story has the potential to become a great hit.
“Yes, of course. I would like a movie to be made on Mansoor Ali Khan. If someone really directs it properly, and with proper research, I think I would like it. I think his life has got a lot of things, about the accident, about losing his father and playing cricket with such a handicap,” she said.
Meanwhile, when she was asked who would she like to see playing her husband’s character in the biopic, the Bollywood actress said: “I really do not know. Somebody who looks like Tiger. Maybe Ranbir Kapoor or somebody in the family.”
When asked about to name the actress who could play her role, she said:“That is a real challenge. What about Alia Bhatt?”
