Playing for Western Australia against Tasmania at the WACA, Voges was hit by a rising delivery from fast bowler Cameron Stevenson on the opening day of the Shield’s clash. Batting at six, the right-handed batsman couldn’t judge the bounce of the ball as he diverted his eyes from it, causing a devastating blow on his helmet.
The medical team took no time to come to his rescue as he was seen walking past the fielders towards the dressing room with both his arms being wrapped around the shoulder of the medical team staff.
Later, he was diagnosed with concussion and was ruled out of the match, borrowing worry for the home side.
Voges posted scores of 27, 1, 0 and 2 in the Tests against the Proteas and could be dropped for the Adelaide Test, with selectors indicating significant team changes after a humiliating loss at Hobart.
