Arsenal should consider themselves very lucky to leave Old Trafford with a point as Jose Mourinho’s men completely dominated the much-awaited clash.
The Red Devils dropped Wayne Rooney from the starting eleven and opted for Marcus Rashford to replace the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The home team dominated the proceedings right from the word go and never allowed Arsene Wenger’s men to play their usual passing game with some brilliant pressing. However, United were finding it tough to clear-cut chances. Their first real chance came in 37th minute when a Juan Mata shot was saved brilliantly by Petr Cech. The Arsenal goalkeeper was forced into action again when he steered an Anthony Martial’s goal-bound shot over the crossbar as the first half ended 0-0. United were looking the dominant team in the second half too and they were finally rewarded for their perseverance when Juan Mata steered a cross from Ander Herrera 20 minutes from time. Mourinho’s men were looking destined to bag all the three points only to see super-sub Oliver Giroud score the equaliser in the 89th minute to rescue a point.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
No idea how on earth we avoided losing that game, but I'm not complaining. Dreadful performance, great goal. #MUFCvAFC

The equaliser shouldn't conceal the abysmal gutless performance from @Arsenal.
No courage, no composure, no pride. We got lucky.#MUFCvAFC

Zero shots on target.
ZERO.
But hey, Wenger's right – we don't need a world class striker. #MUFCvAFC— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 19, 2016
Mourinho says the draw with Arsenal feels like a defeat but he has nothing negative to say about his players. #MUFCvAFC

Graham Sounes bang on the money there! Bang on the money, same old Arsenal and no fight or desire on this team. #MUFCvAFC

United were excellent. Arsenal pretty poor. Good game of football but think there was only one winner.

Manchester United have had precious little fortune at Old Trafford this season. Dominant against Stoke, Burnley & Arsenal. Just 3 points.

Andre Marriner has been diabolical. Clear, stonewall penalty in the first half. Arsenal didn't deserve a point at all. United played well.

Arsenal’s first goal against a Mourinho team in nine years. It had to be against Manchester United.

Most undeserving goal I've ever seen. Arsenal deserve nothing from this. Have been abysmal from start to finish.
