paul-scholes takes a dig at Zlatan

Former Manchester United midfielder has taken a dig at United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is currently 36 and is United’s main man up front this season. The former star believes that Ibrahimovic is now too old to be the front man of a team like Manchester United. Jose Mourinho and his club are intending to extend the Swede’s deal for the second season as Ibrahimovic and Mourinho shares a gem of a relationship. But according to Paul Scholes, there must be two or three new faces up at the front and not Ibrahimovic who is past his prime.

The former Inter Milan and PSG forward has scored 8 goals in all competitions since he has joined the club but has struggled after a bright start to his new campaign.

Scholes quoted “I think so, he’s an athlete and a fit lad. I think he’ll be good to have around the place.”

“He’ll be good for someone like Rashford to learn from.”

“If at 36 years of age he’s going to be the main striker then I don’t see that. When this club has been successful, when I was playing, when Michael [Owen] was playing, we always had three or four brilliant centre-forwards.”

“If you’re talking about a 36-year-old, as special as he’s been over his career, as special as he is now, I don’t think he should be the main one.”

Manchester United are struggling at the 6th place in the premier league and would be hoping to raid the transfer market once it opens. Jose Mourinho has earlier said that his squad needs some transformation and has already questioned the mentality of some of his players. He would be glad to add some fresh faces up front to change things at Old Trafford.
