Often known to be a pumped-up celebrator after a dismissal, India’s Test captain Virat Kohli brought some memories back when he exchanged some heated words with the England all-rounder Ben Stokes in the middle during the first innings of the Mohali Test.
Stokes, who danced down the track to whack Ravindra Jadeja for a boundary, played the wrong line and missed the ball completely, resulting in a stump out. As he missed the ball by a whisker, Jadeja, along with his team-mates, started to celebrate.
Stepped in then Virat Kohli, pumped-up and ecstatic with the dismissal. Clapping and sharing his excitement, the 28-year-old said something provoking, which caused Stokes to react in the same manner, only for umpire to enter and calm down the situation
The send-off from the Indian captain did not please Stokes for sure as England were already struggling to put up a partnership on the board.
Umpires had to intervene in the matter as Virat and co. seemed in no mood to settle the scores with some calmness around.
