This Shocking Stats Comparing Gerrard, Lampard And Scholes Will Blow Your Mind!! 1

It’s unfortunate that football fans are obsessed with comparing players.

Rather than appreciating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the incredible players that they are, we are constantly trying to determine which players are better.

A similar debate began again yesterday after Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from football. Of course, instead of appreciating the Liverpool legend and paying tribute to his incredible career, plenty of people wanted to compare him to Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard.

All three English midfielders have enjoyed brilliant careers, with varying success.

Due to the absence of a Premier League title, some say that Gerrard is inferior to Scholes and Lampard. Scholes picked up 11 league titles at Old Trafford, while Lampard got his hands on three Premier League trophies.

But Gerrard certainly wasn’t helped by the host of average teammates he usually had playing alongside him at Anfield.

Gerrard’s midfielder partners featured the likes of Charlie Adam, Alberto Aquilani and Igor Biscan, whereas Scholes had the support of Roy Keane and Lampard could call upon Claude Makelele.

If he had completed his move to Chelsea in the summer of 2005, we would have been talking about Gerrard: the multiple-title winner.

Last night whilst on BT Sport, Scholes was asked the question on who was better out of himself and Gerrard. The United legend responded by saying: “Pffft. No question is it?”

Well, Scholes is actually right because it appears there is no question.

An image is going viral that suggests Gerrard is the clear winner when compared to Scholes and Lampard.

The comparison focuses on eight different categories, with Gerrard winning all but one of them. Interestingly, the player that is widely considered to be the best of the trio – Scholes – is bottom of all eight categories.

Take a look:

Of course, statistics aren’t everything but when you consider that Gerrard was playing in a side that was nowhere near as good as United and Chelsea – it suggests that he actually was the better player.

But football is a game of opinions – and everyone will have their very own opinion of the three players.

We’re well aware that we’ve waded in on the comparison between the three midfielders but can we just all agree on one thing? Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard were three of the best players the country has ever seen and let’s just appreciate that fact.
