Injury Crisis: Latest Update On Giroud, Walcott, Debuchy That Arsenal Fans Were Waiting For 1

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given the much-awaited injury on Oliver Giroud, Theo Walcott and Mathieu Debuchy.

The Gunners boss confirmed that Giroud, who once again started on the bench despite his impressive performances in the last two games,  had suffered a hamstring injury in the  3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday.

After coming off the bench late in the second half, the France international continued his impressive form by assisting Alexis Sanchez for his second goal. However, he was seen holding his hamstring.

Speaking about Giroud’s injury, Wenger told Arsenal.com:With the hamstring. In the first moment, he told me that he felt a twitch in the back of his hamstring and we will see. I hope it’s not too bad because he told me after that when he sprinted he didn’t feel anything.”

There were worrying signs for the Arsenal camp when Theo Walcott was seen applying an ice pack on his leg after being substituted 15 minutes from time. When asked about Walcott, Wenger said that the injury was not serious and said Giroud’s injury is the real concern for the North London outfit.

He said:“Yeah, he got a kick but nothing major. The only worry we have is Giroud, he looked a little bit to touch his hamstring. We have to see how big the damage is.”

Meanwhile, out of favour right-back, Mathieu Debuchy was a surprise starter for the Gunners against the Cherries. The France international, whose career at the Emirates has been marred by injuries, made his first appearance since November 2015 but suffered another setback when he limped off the pitch after only 16 minutes.

Speaking about Debuchy’s injury, Wenger said:”He thinks it’s a severe one. Don’t go too far because I have to speak to medical people, but you can only assess it really after 48 hours. You have to let it bleed and after, usually they have an MRI 48 hours later to see how big the damage is.”

Meanwhile, the Gunners returned to winning ways after drawing their last three games, two in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

As expected, Wenger was delighted with the impressive victory and said:We are happy.To win for us was vital because it was after the Champions League and as well because we didn’t win for a few games.

“We had a few draws and that is a bit frustrating. It played on the mind of the players.”
