The 13th round of the Premier League was once again at its entertaining best with clubs from around the country fighting for supremacy in the points table. Though most teams are now concentrating only on the league, few of the Premier League teams are busy this week with League Cup Duty.
The Quarter Final of the English League Cup will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and there are some crunch games to keep the fans busy during the week.
From West Ham’s trip to Old Trafford to Arsenal’s clash against Southampton there are a number of high-octane games in this round of the competition and here is a roundup of what is to come in this round:
Hull City vs Newcastle United:

Rafa Benitez’ in form Newcastle side have a great chance of getting their first piece of silverware this season in this competition as they take on Premier League outfit Hull in their own backyard. Mike Phelan’s side have been rather mediocre this season and are not expected to give Newcastle a tough fight in this game.

Jurgen Klopp’s men missed out on the League Cup last season on penalties in the final against Manchester City and will be hoping to go the distance this campaign as they take in a Championship outfit in Leeds United on Tuesday. Playing at Anfield, Klopp’s men are expected to walk over into the semi-final of the competition.

The Gunners have a tough test this week against a solid Southampton side that are in the middle of a good run in the Premier League. Both managers are expected to take this game seriously and are expected to field strong lineups which will make for a great viewing. But Arsenal, playing at home, are expected to step into the semi-final played after the turn of the year.

In what will be a replay of the game at the weekend, Jose Mourinho’s men take on West Ham United this week for a place in the semi-final in the League Cup. The game at the weekend ended in a draw but this being a knock-out game is sure to produce a result and the two teams that were not separated at the weekend will be separated, even if it needs spot-kicks on Wednesday.
