Coutinho Replacement? Liverpool Close-In On Star Dortmund Forward 1

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are currently in a strong position in the Premier League points table, just a point off the top of the table, 13 games into the season. They are now unbeaten in their last 11 league games and are putting in a strong show this season but they were dealt a huge blow recently with an injury to key players.

Though Adam Lallana, who missed close to a month is back in action for the weekend, the Reds were given the news about Phillipe Coutinho who picked up an ankle injury in the game against Sunderland.

The Brazil playmaker has now damaged his ankle ligament and will be out for at least 5 weeks, keeping him out of the game for the busy festive period in December. However, he does not require any surgery and can be back in action sooner if the rehabilitation is helping him.

Coutinho is not expected to play for the club at least until the middle of January at which time Liverpool’s talisman and summer singing Sadio Mane, will be busy with international duty at the AFCON.

This now leaves Klopp a bit short on options up front until the end of February and though they have some options in the squad, it looks like the manager has now decided to spend big in January to add quality players to his attack.

Though there are a number of players linked with a move to Anfield, one player that Klopp is desperate to sign is Borussia Dortmund’s starlet Christian Pulisic.

The 18-year old has been a regular for Dortmund this season and has already had a telling effect on the squad this campaign. Able to play on either wing or even through the centre, Pulisic is a versatile attacker who is way matured beyond his years.

He has 4 goals in 18 games for the club and 3 goals in 11 for his country USA, making him an impact player at the highest level and at his age, he will only get better the more game time he gets.

Klopp has already worked with him in his time in the Bundesliga and has identified him as the man to improve the Liverpool attack for years to come.

The German outfit are not ready to let go of the player yet and are also ready to offer him a new contract but Liverpool are now hopeful of meeting his £25m valuation and lure him to Anfield in January.

He is contracted with Dortmund till 2019 and they are in no hurry to sell but Klopp and his desperation might see Liverpool get their hands on the 18-year old.

Do you think Pulisic is the answer to the injury problems at Liverpool?
