In the latest ICC Rankings for Tests, England have climbed to second spot with 105 points, despite losing to India by eight wickets in the third Test at Mohali.

Virat Kohli-led India, who have maintained their winning streak going in Test cricket from past one year, retained their top spot with 115 points with two more matches to play in the ongoing Test series.

Australia, who won the Day & Night Test against South Africa at Adelaide, eventually lost the three match series 2-1. Their second Test series loss in the span of three months have slid their position down in the rankings to number three. South Africa, who came out victorious are strangling at the fifth spot with 102 points, share the same rating with Pakistan, who lost their first Test series against New Zealand since 1985.

South Africa dominated the Test series against Australia with both bat and ball.

Meanwhile, Kohli has attained his career best rating of 833 points as he leapfrogged Kane Williamson for the number three spot. Following his good show in the third Test at Mohali, England’s Joe Root stands tall at the second position with Australian skipper Steven Smith on the top of the table with 897 points.

As for bowlers, India’s ace-spinner Ravichadran Ashwin, who took four wickets in the Mohali Test, tops the list with 891 points. Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Rangana Herath follows him next while South Africa’s speedster Dale Steyn is third in the category. The fast bowler was though ruled out of the Test series against Australia citing a shoulder injury.
