Maybe By February, I'll Start To Bowl: Dale Steyn 1
Dale Steyn talks recovery, eyes Int'l bowling return

South Africa’s fast bowling spearhead Dale Steyn, on Friday, said he could be back into the nets by the end of January 2017. Steyn was ruled out of the Australia series after the recurrence of a shoulder injury during the Perth Test. The same injury forced him to miss the England Tests last year.

While speaking to Eye Witness News (EWN), Steyn spoke about his recovery at a promotional event which has been based outside Cape Town.

“It’s going okay so far. I’m seeing the physio two or three times a week … to get some movement and some blood flow through there,” Steyn said.

Many fans were made to believe he would remain off-the-field for at least an year, but passionate Steyn had something different to offer for its national side and the spectators too.

“I guess I’ll take December to recover and probably most of January too. By the end of January or maybe early February I’ll probably start to lightly bowl,” Steyn added.

Possibly, we might see Steyn touring England for the four-match Test series, which will kick-start in July next year.

“It is crucial to give the injury enough time to heal and to make sure that he is completely pain-free before he starts bowling again,” African team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said.

To become the Proteas all-time leading wicket-taker in the Test format – Steyn, who has bagged 417 Test wickets in 85 matches, requires another five to go past the legendary Shaun Pollock’s 421 in 108 matches.
