Aguero vs David Luiz: Argentine Striker’s Shocking Tackle On The Chelsea Star Wasn’t His First 1

Sergio Aguero is facing a four-match ban following his straight red card for Manchester City against Chelsea in Saturday’s early kick-off.

With mere seconds remaining of the game, the Argentine lost control of the ball and lunged into a knee-high, studs-up challenge that left David Luiz in a lot of pain.

And Chelsea’s players were absolutely furious. Before eventually being dismissed, Aguero was pushed to the floor by Nathaniel Chalobah and dragged away by referee Anthony Taylor.

It was an awful – and potentially career-ending – challenge.

Scroll down for a video of Aguero’s tackle (alongside Martin Tyler’s famous commentary of his goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012).

However, this isn’t the first time Aguero has produced a dangerous tackle on Luiz.

Against Chelsea at Wembley in the 2013 FA Cup semi-final, the Argentina international avoided red despite making a shocking two-footed tackle on Luiz.

In the video below, while battling for possession with the Brazilian, Aguero quite literally stamped on him with his studs up.

AGUERO HAS PREVIOUS WITH LUIZ

Something tells me Aguero really, really hates Luiz.

When asked for his take on the challenge, Luiz refused to criticise Aguero and instead appeared to justify his actions for being “frustrated”.

“I don’t want to speak about these kind of things,” he told Sky Sports. “Sometimes other players are frustrated with the result.

“Aguero is an amazing player, scores a lot of goals, gives a lot for football, so I prefer to not talk about this. I prefer to give this victory to those in Brazil.”

As for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, he believes the referee made the right decision: “This final [stage] wasn’t good. I hope only that Luiz is not injured after this tackle.

“It is very difficult to explain this final part of the game. I support the referee. It is important that the referee whistles and we ‘finish’ (do what he says).”
