Manchester United were left frustrated yet against this weekend as a late penalty by Leighton Baines gave Everton a point from their home game against the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho will not be happy with the performances of his side recently and will now be hoping to get through the busy festive period with minimum damage as he will get a chance to improve the squad in January.
He has plans to sign a couple of players or even more in January but the manager might get rid of a number of underperformers in the squad at the turn of the year.
The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian all linked with a move away from the club. But two players that may well be on their way for sure are skipper Wayne Rooney and attacker Memphis Depay.
The 31-year old England national team captain Wayne Rooney has made a slow start to the season and has lost his place in the side under Jose Mourinho.

Though he has been effective as a sub in the last few games, the reportedly ready to listen to offers to offload him in January.
Dutch international Memphis Depay is still early in his career and has not been able to settle into the club at Old Trafford. He is yet to show any kind of form at the club in more than an year and Mourinho is offering him to clubs on loan in January.
And reports today suggest that Merseyside outfit Everton are now plotting a sensational double swoop for the Manchester United duo.
At 31, Rooney still has some football left in him and Mourinho is not yet willing to let him go wholeheartedly. But Ronald Koeman wants Rooney to return to his boyhood club in what could be an emotional moment for both the parties.
However, it is to be seen if Everton are ready to meet his asking price and if Rooney himself is ready to make the switch.
But Depay on the other hand seems to be moving closer and closer to an exit with Everton looking the likely destination. Koeman needs some attacking reinforcements to his squad in January with the likes of Ross Barkley, Yannick Bolasie and Kevin Mirallas all failing to show consistency.

The pressure at Old Trafford will be lifted and this might give Depay the foundation to launch his career in the Premier League.
And if Koeman can lure Rooney out, Everton, with their decent start to the campaign, they may well be able to challenge for a European spot come the end of the season.
