Huge Boost: Three Arsenal Stars Return To Training 1

Arsenal have finally received some good news as they have welcomed back Hector Bellerin, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud to training ahead of the trip to Basel for their final Champions League group match.

The Gunners have suffered some huge injury setbacks in recent weeks as their influential midfielder Santi Cazorla is ruled out for their months after undergoing an operation for an ankle injury. Mathieu Debuchy is also ruled out for six weeks after suffering an injury in his first appearance for the club this term during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

The Metro has reported that Bellerin, Mertesacker and Giroud have returned to the training which will be a huge morale-booster for them as they desperately seek to end their title drought.

Bellerin, who last played for the Gunners on November 6 against Tottenham Hotspur, sustained an ankle injury during the game and his much-awaited return will give Wenger a huge relief as he has been short of right-backs.

On the other hand, Oliver Giroud suffered a minor hamstring injury during the Bournemouth game. The in-form France international was seen holding his hamstring but he has now fully recovered from it.

Mertesacker, who suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury against Lens during pre-season and has been sidelined ever since has also returned to training. The Germany international is not likely to play a crucial role this season but Wenger has insisted that his presence will motivate the other players.

Speaking before the Bournemouth clash, Wenger had said:“He gets everybody focused and I’m sure I can rely on his help to keep the team highly motivated.”

Meanwhile, the Gunners will look to win their match against Basel and hope that the result of PSG’s game against Ludogorets goes their way as a win for the French champions will see them topping the group while Arsenal will be in danger of facing some European heavyweights in the knockout round.
