Rumour Of The Day: Andrea Pirlo To Join Chelsea On Loan!! 1

It doesn’t take much to whip football fans into a frenzy.

In the age of social media, all it takes is for one seemingly innocuous action to get people talking, and despite being a man of few words, Andrea Pirlo has managed to do just that this week.

With the MLS regular season now at a close, Pirlo is free to enjoy a stress-free festive period with his family and do a bit of travelling to unwind after a long campaign under Patrick Vieira.

And that’s exactly what he’s done, whisking his family off to London to enjoy the the Christmas lights and take in the sights around the Piccadilly Circus area of the city.

However, he probably didn’t think that posting a lovely photo of himself and his young children would get Chelsea fans frothing at the mouth at the prospect of him linking back up with Antonio Conte.

Posting the picture to his personal Twitter account on Thursday evening, it didn’t take long for a handful of hopeful Chelsea fans to leap onto it and beg to know the meaning of one of the little symbols attached to the message.

And that symbol? A blue heart next to a message reading: “In London with my lovely children”.


Pirlo has a long history with current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, and fans seem to think this is his way of leaving a cryptic little message about his next destination.

The MLS is now in its off-season until March, meaning the 37-year-old could feasibly join another club on loan for a three-month period when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Fellow veterans like David Beckham, Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan all undertook similar short-term loans in the recent past, so could Pirlo be the latest to do the same, or is it all a load of fuss over nothing?
