Arsenal is targeting Manchester United’s young forward Jesse Lingard, according to reports from The Sun on Sunday.
The Gunners are eyeing the move for the talented winger after Manchester United have expressed their interest in signing contract rebel Mesut Ozil. The 23-year old Lingard has been an important player for Jose Mourinho this season as he has been featuring for the Red Devils on a consistent basis, unlike previous seasons.
Arsenal is willing to offer him massive £120,000-a-week wages which will be double the amount that he is currently earning at Old Trafford.
However, it remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho would be willing to his direct rival Arsene Wenger and has expressed his reluctance to sell Petr Cech to the Gunners earlier when he was in charge of Chelsea last season.
Arsenal has looked near flawless since the start of the season as they have been in unbelievable form and are on a 14 game unbeaten run in the Premier League. Wenger already has plenty of options in his attack as the team looked well rounded.
Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard has been featuring for Manchester United as he has already made 13 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions despite suffering a setback with an injury early in the season.
But he would have to fight with the likes of Theo Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Iwobi and Aaron Ramsey to get a chance in the first team next season if he makes the move to North London.
However, there will be debate as there is little that Lingard can improve in the current team as they have looked a class apart from other teams managing to be unbeaten in Champions League and also been on a 14 game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
