Klopp Wants To Sign Uncapped English Player After Recent Goal Keeping Issues 1

After being stunned by the Cherries at the Dean Court, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were frustrated yet again this weekend as Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United managed to steal a point from their visit to the Anfield in the Premier League.

Adam Lallana gave the hosts an early lead but Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio pushed West Ham to a one goal lead before the break.

The Reds came back strongly in the second half but could only find the net once to share the points as once again, their defensive frailties came into question.

Payet, one of the top dead ball specialists in Europe got the better of Karius, whose positioning was less than impressive but that was not the only criticism that the Reds’ keeper had in this game.

He decided to stay back for a ball that deflected off Henderson and left Matip for dead. Antonio used his pace to get in behind and with Karius committed, just poked it to an empty net to give his side the lead.

This came at the back of a horrendous display against Bournemouth leaving Liverpool with yet another goal keeping problem.

Former first choice shot-stopper Simon Mignolet has lost the faith of the manager and the recent issues have now seen the club linked with a few keepers for a move in January.

On loan Manchester City man Joe Hart has been extensively linked with a move to Anfield but one player who is not making the rounds is Sunderland shot-stopper Jordan Pickford.

The 22-year old English shot stopper is turning out to be one of the most consistent players in his position this season and is already attracting interests from clubs in the league.

Having dispatched Vito Mannone to the bench, Pickford is currently the first choice shot-stopper at the Stadium of Light this season and his efforts in front of goal have helped Sunderland pick up a few points already this season.

At his age, he is still learning the trade in the country but with the problems at the back for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is now ready to make a move for him in months to come, according to sources from England.

The 22-year old’s current contract runs till 2020 but Sunderland do not have a huge release clause that might see Liverpool get their man for the cheap in January.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are also interested in his signature if they fail to extend the contract of current first choice Hugo Lloris before the end of the season.

At 22, he is potentially one of the best players in his position in the domestic league but Pickford is relatively young in his career and might not be the man that Liverpool are looking for at moment, due to his lack of experience.

Do you think Liverpool should spend on Pickford for the long term in January?
