Virat Kohli Hints At A County Stint Before India's Tour Of England In 2018 1

What sets Virat Kohli apart from other cricketers is his sheer penchant for improving every day. The Indian batting sensation has set the world on fire with his unbelievable batting prowess in the last couple of years but that has not stopped him from being one of the most hard-working cricketers on the globe. Apart from his batting, the Delhi lad has won accolades from all quarters for his amazing dedication and the India Test captain is all set to take his dedication level a notch higher as he is contemplating the idea of playing county cricket before the team tour England in 2018.

The last time India visited England, Kohli came a cropper against the likes of Stuart Broad and James Anderson. Kohli had become one of the batting mainstays of the team and was seen as the flagbearer of the team after the retirement of senior players. However, he performed miserably on the tour and one can say the series would still be haunting him. He looked vulnerable in conditions that assisted fast-bowlers and in five Tests, he scored only 134 runs at an average of under 14.

And although he has made amends for that failure in the ongoing series where he has scored a mind-boggling 640 runs in 7 innings, Kohli is open to playing county cricket to get accustomed to conditions before the next series in England.

Speaking ahead of the final Test in Chennai, he said:“If I have a chance, I would love to do that. I would love to be there a month, a month and a half before the tour, get used to playing in those conditions, understand how the wickets behave in that particular time of the year.”

“Preparation is something which is crucial for any side.“If I have the opportunity to do that before the England tour, it will be great. I have actually been thinking about it, trying to work it out and make it happen. So yes, I would love to play there,” added the Indian Test captain.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s men would look to end the five-match series on a high by winning the final Test against England which begins on December 16 in Chennai.
