AB de Villiers, famously known as Mr. 360 , holds the record for the top batting average by a wicket-keeper in Tests.
De Villiers started to keep wickets for South Africa in Tests from 2012. He did all the hard-work behind the stumps and also batted at number 5 for his team. The workload of a wicket-keeper is so much that it is difficult for the wicket-keeper to bat at number 5 after keeping the wickets for more than a day. But de Villiers managed it quite well and just because of this, South Africa were able to play an extra batsman at number 7 which made their batting line-up very deep.
AB de Villiers, now, has left wicket-keeping in all formats and the responsibility is now on Quinton de Kock’s shoulders to carry the good work forward. AB’s last Test as a wicket-keeper came against Australia earlier this year.
