Chants are one of the best things about football.
Nobody quite knows how the come about, or become so popular, but somehow words gets around and the fans have a new song to get stuck into in no time.
And now thanks to camera phones and social media, these inventive little ditties are soon put out to the world for everyone to see.
Manchester United fans already have a few of their own songs under their belts, and during Saturday’s win over West Bromwich Albion it would appear that there is now another one to add to the repertoire.
Though Manchester City aren’t their deadliest rivals – that’s an honour reserved for Liverpool – there is still a deep division between the two and neither set of fans are afraid to vocalise their distaste for the other.
But the target of this new song is manager Pep Guardiola.
Set to the tune of the Dave Clark Five’s hit song “Glad all over” the song pokes fun at Guardiola’s difficult start to life in the Premier League.
“F*** off Guardiola, your glory days are over,” the fans sing.
And as you can see from the video below, the supporters were clearly having a good time singing along.
United fans were in good voice all night at the Hawthorns, with reports claiming that the fans there sung no less than 47 different chants.
And they have good reason to be cheerful as it seems that the Red Devils have finally managed to turn the corner and put a run of form together in time for the busy festive period.
United have now won three games on the bounce thanks to victories over Albion, Crystal Palace and Tottenham, and are now unbeaten in eight games in the league.
And for the first time in a few years, it looks as though they may manage to finish above their noisy neighbours, in what will feel like order being restored to the suffering fans.
