Riding on their latest victory over England, India maintained their position at the top of the ICC world rankings and widen the gap between number 1 and 2 to 15 points. India now rests comfortably at the top with Australia just behind them.
The visitors England, on the other hand, lost three places and went down to the 5th spot as they suffered a huge loss by an innings and 75 runs at the hands of the Virat Kohli’s men.
Australia is now the number two team in the world despite their poor run of form in Tests followed by Pakistan who have 102 points.
Meanwhile, The Proteas are fourth and New Zealand who are sixth now trail the Fifth-placed England by just 5 points.
India is having a dream run under Virat Kohli and gained the top position from Pakistan when they defeated New Zealand at Kolkata by 78 runs. India’s performance since then has been more than good which has helped them strengthen their position at the top of the table.
As the Australia vs Pakistan Test series is set to continue until the start of the next year, India is going to finish the year on a good note being the number one test side in the world.
