Chelsea are ready to award a new contract for star striker Diego Costa that would see him at Stamford Bridge till 2021, according to Daily Mail.
The 28-year old has been in the form of his life at Chelsea as he has managed to impress under new manager Antonio Conte and has been their focal point in attack over the past few months.
Costa have scored an impressive 13 goals in the Premier League this season which helped him to become the highest goal scorer and have also ensured that Chelsea are at the top of the league with eleven consecutive wins in the league.
The consistent performances of Spaniard has caught the eyes of club hierarchy as they are willing to provide a huge rise in his wages which will make him one of the best earners at the club.
Diego Costa has reached 50 goals mark for the club with his goal against Crystal Palace last weekend as he took just 97 games to reach the milestone. Even club legend Didier Drogba took 112 games to achieve the feat which has brought lot of plaudits for the striker in the recent days.
The new contract would see a two year extension to his current contract that runs down till 2019. This will be a remarkable turn around considering the fact that Diego Costa was on the verge of signing for his former club Atletico Madrid this summer. Instead the Spaniard would earn a massive £200,000-a-week at Chelsea as the Blues have ensured that he remained at the club despite Atletico pushing them to the limit.
Costa will now serve a one match ban after accumulating the yellow card limit against Crystal Palace last weekend and will miss the boxing day fixture against Bournemouth. His form remains crucial for Blues if they were to win Premier League this season.
