Goodison Park was absolutely electric on Monday night, as you would expect.
Liverpool travelled to Everton in a Merseyside derby that would make or break their Premier League title hopes, given they sat nine points behind Chelsea in the build-up.
And for 94 minutes it seemed they were only going to close the gap to eight points, with the game goalless up until injury time.
But up stepped Sadio Mane with a late, late winner to secure Liverpool a vital win and move into second, above Manchester City and Arsenal.
It was complete and utter pandemonium when Mane found the back of the net, though it was the post-match celebrations that fans will particularly enjoy.
Earlier today, Liverpool posted footage on Instagram of Jurgen Klopp, his players and the club’s fans celebrating wildly after the final whistle – and it’s absolutely brilliant.
While Klopp was typically excitable and hugging each and every one of his players, the likes of Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson were applauding the rapturous crowd.
How’s that for spine-tingling?
Liverpool performed exactly how Klopp asked them to in the second half, though the same couldn’t be said for the first 45 minutes.
“The first half is really important for us because everyone saw it, we can play nice football, but this first half, we couldn’t play nice football or whatever,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“It’s all about a possession game because we were not clear enough.
“Dejan took the ball direct, he closed his own passing options for this move and it was too easy to defend, so everything was hectic. That was the problem sometimes. We maybe played too quick in this direction.
“We need to learn, and that’s what I really loved tonight, that we did it so much better in the second half, that’s really important. You need to fight for every single ball and we did too.
“Great, intense, how a derby should be, not the best football in the world of course but you can’t ignore the intensity and importance of a game like this.
“You have to take it like it is, second half, we took it like it should be.”
