Speculation is rife this season that PSG manager Unai Emery could replace sooner rather than later, with names such as Arsene Wenger, Louis van Gaal and Guus Hidink all being linked as potential successors to the struggling Spaniard.

While it is being reported that Wenger is being lined up by PSG owner Sheikh bin Khelaifi, it is the association of van Gaal that has gotten the biggest reaction, among Manchester United fans at least.

While under the management of van Gaal, Manchester United sought to stop the rot that had set in following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. While he enjoyed some success, including Champions League qualification in 2015 and the FA Cup in 2016, van Gaal was ultimately and unceremoniously dumped in favour of José Mourinho this past summer.

During his tenure, one of the biggest names to both come and go was that of former Real Madrid star, Ángel Di María. Arriving with such promise and showing flashes of brilliance, the Argentine ultimately failed to impress and was promptly sold to PSG after only one season.

It was Di Maria himself that pushed for the move away from Manchester and van Gaal and having put all their hopes in the then 26-year-old, fans were left with less than favourable opinions on the attacking midfielder.

Now, with reports, via the Express, that van Gaal is in the running to take over at the Parc des Princes, United fans have been unable to contain themselves at the thought of Di Maria seeing the Dutchman coming to Paris.
