Despite being in the last year of his contract, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in no hurry to sign a contract extension and is happy to wait until the season ends.
Speculations have been rife that the this will be Wenger’s final year at the Emirates and reports of Gunners approaching Eddie Howe and Ralph HasenHuttl has only added fuel to those rumours.
However, the French tactician said that he will not take any decision in a haste and will wait until spring to make a call on his future. He also said that the club is free to make any decision on his future.
“I always said that I will judge where I stand in spring and make my decisions then,” the 67-year-old told reporters.
“The club is free as well. It’s not because I am here a long time that I have any rights. We are both on the same boat.”

“There are plenty of managers who arrived at the end of their contract. It happened to me before,” Wenger said.
“I signed sometimes in March, April for longer contracts. So I don’t think it’s a problem,” he added.
One of the longest-serving managers in the Premier League, Wenger has guided Arsenal to nine major trophies since his arrival, but the club’s last Premier League title came in 2004. As a result, the fans have asked for his sacking on several occasions but recent reports have suggested that the manager is going to stay at the Emirates after this season.
The Gunners are linked with Valencia’s 21-year old left-back Jose Gaya to replace Nacho Monreal and the Daily Mirror had claimed that Gaya’s pursuit by the North London outfit is another indication that Wenger will not leave the club after this season.
