The Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has been blessed with a baby girl on December 21. The couple delayed the announcement of the birth of the child as Prithi Ashwin did not want to steal the limelight of R Ashwin who won the ICC Cricketer of the year the same day and hence, an announcement at that point of time could have deviated mind of the people. So the couple decided to delay the news.
The news was made official by Mrs Ashwin himself as she tweeted –
I delivered carrom baby #2 on the 21st. She waited out a State-wide shut down thanks to the cyclone AND 5 days of Test cricket at Chepauk??

I thought my water would break when we won that game and I was going to have the baby at Chepauk. Now, THAT would have been some story.

This is the second time when Ashwin has become a father as her wife delivered the first baby last year in the month of July.
R Ashwin tied the knot with Prithi Ashwin on November 13, 2011, and since then we have always seen Prithi cheering for his husband from the stands.
R Ashwin, who is suffering from a hernia, was recently awarded the ICC Test cricketer of the year and ICC Cricketer of the year award. He has been the star of the Indian team in past three Test series as he has contributed to the team in both the departments of the game. He is tumbling records on daily basis and if and only if Ashwin is able to play for another 12 or 15 years, then he might emerge as the highest wicket taker in Test cricket.
