West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin has suffered multiple cheekbone fractures after being involved in an ugly collision with team-mate Laura Harris during a Women’s Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars on Tuesday (December 27).
Going by the video updated by Cricket Australia, the hard-hitting batsman representing Brisbane crashed into Harris in-order to stop a ball crossing the boundary. Unsuccessful in her attempt to do so, Dottin’s fell down in a very awkward position on the kit bags lying on the boundary line after gliding her head. Her fall actually sent some worrying signs to the players and crowd.

Dottin was given medical attention immediately after the clash. However, Harris, who fell near the fence, did not receive any major injury. However, her WBBL club confirmed she may need titanium plates to repair damage to her face.
On her Facebook page, Dottin wrote, “I’m ok now after a very painful head clash today with my team mate Harris [sic]. I went to hospital for scans which have now revealed that I have multiple fractures of my cheekbone. Eye socket and eyesight is fine, Jaw and teeth fine.”
She later informed that she has been discharged and now has an appointment fixed with a face surgeon to deal with the blow. She in her gentle post also thanked Brisbane Heat’s support, coaching and medical staff for their support.
“I am out of hospital now, recovering before a specialist appointment with a face surgeon on Thursday. At this stage it is believed I will require titanium plates to fix the issues. All is going to be fine! I must thank dearly the Brisbane Heat coaching, support and medical staff who have been very professional, helpful and caring to me.”
