Australia’s Adam Voges has dropped a hint about hanging up his boots from International cricket. Speaking to Radio 6PR, the discarded right-handed batsman, who earlier in the Sheffield Shield match was struck on his head and later unfrocked from the national side, said he isn’t sure about his future and will rather sit back and take a call after the end of the ongoing Australian summer.
“I don’t know. I will sit down at the end of this summer and work out whether that’s it for me, or whether I think I’ve got another year.”
The 37-year-old, however, made his Test debut in 2015 and was in headlines for scoring a flurry of runs. He before being left out from the squad, amassed 1485 runs in 20 matches played at an astonishing average of 61.85. Also, during this course, he registered five centuries, including an unbeaten 130 against West Indies in his debut.
Voges, who went through a torrid patch in the home series against South Africa, scored just 30 runs in two matches at a horrifying average of 7.50. He, though, concluded, by saying he plans to analyse the depth in his home team, Western Australia, and also the future endeavours for other emerging players to take over the responsibility.
“It will come down to whether I think I am performing well enough and whether I’m enjoying it, whether the body will hold and whether there’s some young guys who need opportunities I will weigh all of that up.”
