Alexis Sanchez Regrets Not Playing Alongside This Arsenal Legend 1

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has said he would have loved to have played alongside Gunners legend Thiery Henry.

The Chile international has drawn comparisons to the former France international after his impressive prowess in front of the goal this season. Just like Henry, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has changed Sanchez’s role from a winger to a centre-forward and the impact has been extraordinary. The former Barcelona star took up his new role at the start of the campaign when Olivier Giroud was sidelined but has now become the first-choice for Wenger. An absolute revelation in front of the goal, Sanchez has scored 14 goals apart from registering 12 assists in all competitions so far.

And the Arsenal star believes that he would have been even more deadly with Arsenal’s record goalscorer as his partner up front.

“I would like to have played with Henry,” Sanchez told Arsenal’s weekly membership newsletter. “He could score, play one-twos with you, pass the ball, hold it. He had a huge repertoire and great vision too. I like playing with players with such a panoramic vision.”

Sanchez said Henry would have scored the majority of goals had they played together.

“I think as a partnership we would do great together,” Sanchez said. “We would be constantly moving, going up and down, coming and going. I would have loved playing with Henry.

“He was more of a scorer than I am. I think I would assist him for every goal he would score. I’m more into passing and he is a great goal scorer.”

Meanwhile, Sanchez’s future at the Emirates is still uncertain. The 28-year old has been in talks over a new deal for quite some time now but nothing concrete has materialised yet. The forward is demanding a pay rise but the club hierarchy is unwilling to accept his demands which have raised speculations around his future.
