We Admit That We Haven't Been Successful Here, Says Wahab Riaz 1
Pakistan paceman Wahab Riaz and captain Misbah-ul-Haq walk back to their mark during the day one of the third Tests in Sydney.

Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz has said that bowling unit hasn’t performed up to the mark and should be held responsible for the side’s poor outing in the Tests so far.

Pakistan was completely taken aback by the assault lead by David Warner and Matt Renshaw during the first day of the third Test match in Sydney, where Australia scored 365 for three on stumps. Opener David Warner wrecked havoc early on as he scored a hundred (113) within the first session of the day and became the fifth batsman ever to achieve such a feat in Tests history.

He wasn’t the only one to raise his bat, though, as Matt Renshaw too scored his maiden ton. The Pakistani bowlers were taken for a ride for the major part of the game. Apart from Wahab Riaz, who bagged two wickets, no other bowler could trouble the batsmen’s much.

Wahab Riaz bagged two wickets on day one of the third Test match against Australia in Sydney.

After suffering a tearful beating, Riaz pointed the fingers towards the lack of discipline in the bowling line-up which hurt them in the end.

“As a bowling unit, if we keep making mistakes and bowling in (Warner’s) strong area, we’re going to look foolish. We didn’t bowl well and Australia batted at an extremely good run rate. The conditions today in Sydney were quite close to those we get in Asia. The pitch was little slow. We know how to bowl in these conditions and we should have bowled better here.”

The seamer was at the receiving end too during the day and admitted the same saying they could have extract success from the surface, given the conditions which suited them more.

“We admit that we haven’t been successful here. We have not been able to execute our plans and if you are not doing it properly then there is little chance you will take wickets.”

The fast bowler praised David Warner for his blistering knock and said as a unit, Pakistan need to step up and perform well if they wish to seek some pride in the last Test.

“The credit goes to Warner and co for playing so well. But at the end of the day, it’s the bowling unit which isn’t doing good. As a bowling unit we have let our team really down”, he concluded.
