Stat Attack: Unwanted Records For Mahendra Singh Dhoni As India's Skipper 1

Unpredictability was the trademark of India’s most decorated skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Right from his decision to give Joginder Sharma the ball in the final over of the World T20 final to promote himself in the batting-order ahead of the in-form Yuvraj Singh during the 2011 World Cup final, the wonder boy from Ranchi always did the unexpected and his decision to step down from the limited-overs captaincy stands right up there.

The 35-year-old has been under huge pressure in recent times due to poor results but there is absolutely no denying the fact that his achievements have remained unparalleled not only in Indian cricket but also world cricket. The only captain to win all the three ICC Trophies- World T20, 50-overs World Cup and Champions Trophy, Dhoni is right up there in the list of some of the best captains to ever grace the game. But given the unpredictability of the game, sometimes even the best in business suffer a lean phase in the game and set records that they would have liked to avoid.

Now that the man has resigned from captaincy, we at Sportzwiki look back at his career and present to you some unwanted records set by him:

  • Most Overseas defeat in Tests as an Indian captain:Image result for dhoni Test lossWith 27 wins, Dhoni is the most successful Indian captain in Tests. However, he also has the dubious distinction of an Indian captain with most Test defeats overseas. The 35-year old, who hung his boots in 2014 after the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, lost 15 Tests as a skipper, five more than the second-placed MAK Pataudi, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly.
