Josh Hazlewood and Steve O’Keefe took three wickets apiece as Australia defeated Pakistan by 220 runs in the final Test to inflict a humiliating 3-0 whitewash on the visitors.
Chasing an improbable 464 runs to salvage some pride, Misbah-ul-Haq’s men once again came cropper with the bat as their woeful run in Tests continued. Resuming the day at 55 for 1, Pakistan suffered a huge setback in the very first over when Hazlewood dismissed the in-form Azhar Ali. Babar Azam (9) followed Azhar to the pavilion shortly before Nathan Lyon had the priced scalp of Younis Khan (13) to leave Pakistan reelin at 82 for 4. Misbah-ul-Haq (38), Asad Shafiq (30) and Sarfraz Ahmed (72) tried their best to stage a comeback but they only succeeded in delaying the inevitable for some time as the visitors were bundled out for 244.
