Some strive to be great, some work hard to attain success, some are witty and then there is Virender Sehwag. Who knows a better way to entertain his fans than the swashbuckling batsman itself?
On field he possessed a threat to the bowlers with his wide range of shots and off the field, he is equally effective with his wide range of thoughts. Making news lately for his witty tweets, unusual or rather humorous replies, Virender Sehwag has done well to his pocket too by just being sarcastic, to say the least.
“I have, in the last six months, made around Rs 30 lakh through my tweets.”
Much to his liking, Sehwag has only improved with time. Remembering his epic reply to British journalist Piers Morgan, when he tried trolling India after the end of Olympics saying, “Country of 1.2 billion people widely celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that” to which he did not receive much pleasing response from the Indians and Sehwag joined the race too by replying, ‘We cherish every small happiness, But England who invented cricket and yet to win a World Cup, still continue to play the World Cup. Embarrassing?
Well, that was just one of the many tweets that stole the headlines in media. Having tried his hand into humor and even finding a fair bit of success, Sehwag started with his new venture on YouTube named Viru Ke Funde, that covers everything, from how to oppose your wife thoughts and coming out victorious to how to speak English as an adult. Backing the decision for the last funda, he mentioned, “All cricketers who did not speak English, like Kapil, Harbhajan and I, married women who were fluent in it. In front of them, we were not shy of making mistakes, which helped us learn to speak in that language without getting embarrassed.”
But there must be a reason of how he manages to unearth so witty words to reply whenever he takes onto Twitter and well, he has an answer for it too.
“These are all jokes we used to crack with friends and in the dressing room. Once I took to Twitter and shared those jokes, they became a huge hit. My following grew and some of the posts got thousands of re-tweets. With so many shares, money from sponsors followed.”
With thousands of his followers following him on the social media on daily basis, the day isn’t far when he would lead the chart of being the most famous Indian personality on Twitter.
