With MS Dhoni releasing himself off the burden of captaincy now, it will be very appealing to watch him play solely as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Along with Dhoni, the focus remains on the comeback man, Yuvraj Singh, who returns to the ODI setup after more than 3 years. On the back of a stellar domestic season, expectations are high from India’s greatest match winner in limited overs.
Yuvraj and Dhoni, though, would prepare for the ODI series by taking part for India A in the warm-up encounter against England at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai. Watching the duo bat together is bound to remind viewers of the good old days when they demolished bowling attacks with their disparaging batting.
The pair provided just an insight of things to follow as they were witnessed practising some big shots on the eve of the India A game. Dhoni and Yuvraj practised in adjacent nets at the Brabourne Stadium premises and played a couple of extravagant shots.
While Dhoni ferociously pulled a short delivery, Yuvraj was timeless as he danced down the track to a slow left-arm spinner and deposited the ball far away. Watching them play the big shots was a complete treat to the eyes, as it rewound memories of the glorious days of Indian cricket.
Watching them play together for the upcoming ODI series will be quite out of the ordinary as it will give a clear indication of India’s plans for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in June. If the pair finds their old form, India is in for some serious advantage. More than that, viewers are promised of some insane entertainment.
