Riding on Fawad Ahmed and Carlos Brathwaite’s brilliant bowling performance, Sydney Thunder thrashed city rivals Sydney Sixers by eight wickets to keep their hopes of qualifying for the final.
Batting first, the Sixers were 52 for 2 in the ninth over before a dramatic collapse saw them getting reduced to 67 for 8. Moises Henriques’ side never recovered from the setback and were eventually dismissed for only 99. Opener Daniel Hughes was the only player to reach the 20-run mark as the Sixers churned out one of their worst batting displays.
The 100 run target was never going to be a tough one for the Thunder and their openers Kurtis Patterson and James Vince ensured that their team does not mess up the chase by adding 54 runs for the opening wicket. Sean Abbott dismissed Vince and Shane Watson in the same over but Ben Rohrer and Patterson shared an unbeaten partnership of 41 runs to take their team home.

Fawad Ahmed fires in front of test selector Mark Waugh. I wonder what his report will be back to the Chairman of Selectors.

Just what Australia needs ahead of India – Steve O'Keefe & @bachaji23 both getting plenty of wickets. Great for selectors to have options!!

Disappointing loss tonight @SixersBBL need a lot more composure and leadership in the batting order! Especially from the skipper @Mozzie21
