England pacer Stuart Broad recently picked up his all-time XI and that list included an array of legends. While being interviewed about his dream XI, Broad spoke about the need to have a solid and dependable opener. Basing his reasoning on that, the lanky pacer chose his captain Alastair Cook as one the of openers.
Broad also went on to name Cook as the team’s captain keeping in mind the latter’s track record as England’s Test captain. Alongside Cook, Broad chose former Australian legend Matthew Hayden as the opener. Broad added that Hayden’s aggressive approach right at the start would complement Cook’s style quite a bit.
A major surprise in store was the fact that Broad chose Ricky Ponting as a pure batsman and not as captain. Ponting has been one of the most successful captains in Test history, but Broad, however, was content to have Ricky just as a player.
The only Indian in Broad’s XI was none other than the greatest batsman of all time, Sachin Tendulkar. Broad heaped praises on Tendulkar’s brilliance and had him slotted at number 4.
