In cricket, numbers speak for themselves, the only thing that numbers probably do not convey is how the numbers were formed (For example: The situation or the condition which often makes a lot of difference).

Today we would take a look at few more amazing numbers that will reveal some of the exciting facts about cricketing legends that we probably didn’t know. To start with, we will talk about the greatest cricketer:

DON BRADMAN:

Everyone’s aware of his 99.94 Test average. Few might also know that he needed just 4 runs in his last innings to have an average of 100. But many wouldn’t know that it was Eric Hollies from England who got Bradman bowled on a duck and Bradman fell short of .06 to reach the 100.

Sir Don Bradman has never been a victim of the nervous nineties throughout his Test career.

He is among the 8 batsmen who have more centuries to their name than fifties in Test cricket (min 20 Tests) – Other 7 players are as follows: Mohammed Azharuddin, Matthew Hayden, Clyde Walcott, Bill Ponsford, George Headley, Michael Clarke and Les Ames.

KAPIL DEV

Kapil Dev has never been run-out in Test career.

In his 131 match long Test career, he has missed only 1 Test on the account of Gavaskar initiated disciplinary action.

On 2 occasions Kapil Dev has been involved in a run-out and on both occasions the batsmen to get out was Syed Kirmani. To make facts better, Kapil went on to score a century on both occasions.

SACHIN TENDULKAR

On 3 occasions of the 4 times when a double century was scored, the margin by which India has won the match has been 153. This happened when Sachin scored 200, Sehwag scored 219 and Rohit scored 264.

Other amazing facts

Saaed Ajmal has never bowled a no-ball in an international inning.

There have been two instances where all four innings of a Test match were played on same day.
– England vs West Indies 2000, Lord’s (Win: 267/9 to 267. Eng: 134. Win: 54: Eng: 0/0).
– South Africa vs Australia 2011, Cape Town (Aus: 214/8 to 284. Saf: 96. Aus: 47. Saf: 87/1).

Mohammed Sami once bowled a 17 ball over against Bangladesh.

155 runs is the lowest individual score, that hasn’t been scored by any batsmen in ODIs

229 runs is the lowest individual score, that hasn’t been scored by any batsmen in International Test Cricket

183 is one of the luckiest numbers for India as it was the score of India in the 1983 World Cup final. It is also the highest scores of Ganguly, Dhoni and Kohli. All 3 have later gone on to captain India.
