In a recent report submitted to Pakistan’s parliament on Tuesday, it is learnt that cricket’s governing body in the country has spent over one billion (1.08) in the promotion of the sport in past three years.
As reported by the Express Tribune, the incomes and expenditures of the board in past three years were brought to notice and the numbers disclosed were all but whopping.
Going by what has been written in the report, PCB has generated a revenue of mammoth 10.77 billion without hosting any International match on their soil for around eight years now. In spite of this, the board has earned a profit of around 9.69 billion.
With the introduction of Pakistan’s Super League (PSL) now, the numbers are expected to rise only. Though, earlier this month, the board reviewed the audit report of the inaugural edition and found the estimated profit to be originated was $2.6 million. A huge amount worth $2 million, was also handed over to the five franchises participating, leaving the board with $60,000 for itself.
Speaking to Daily Express, one of PCB’s senior official said the profit was worth celebrating and the expectations for the second editions are even higher.
“Earning a profit in the very first edition was a landmark achievement. We are expecting more income in the second edition.”
