Breaking: Diego Costa Demands Insane Pay Rise To Stay At Chelsea 1

In-form Chelsea striker Diego Costa has reportedly demanded his contract at Stamford Bridge be renegotiated if they want him to stay at the club.

Coming off the back of a tumultuous week that saw the fiery Spaniard dropped from the side following a much-publicised bust-up with manager Antonio Conte, Costa has, according to the Sun, given the club an ultimatum regarding his future.

It is understood the fall out with Conte was sparked by an offer from the cash-rich Chinese Super League, rumoured to be £600,000 per week. Now, following clear-the-air talks with his manager, Costa has returned to training, reportedly with an agreement that contract negotiations will begin.

Additional to this, the tabloid reports that the 28-year-old has made a demand for an eye-watering £300,000 per week in order to stay with the high-flying Premier League leaders.

Such a figure would make Costa one of the very highest earners in the league, however, it is understood the club are unwilling to meet the Spain international’s demands.

Instead, the club are reportedly willing to offer a five-year deal worth £225,000, an incredible £58 million between now and 2022.

Despite there being a far greater amount of money dangled in front of the Chelsea hit man, from the Chinese Super League, the prestige of the Premier League and European club tournaments leaves Costa with a very simple choice, money or glory.

Though the unsettled star could still potentially leave Stamford Bridge, a betting man would put their money on a return to La Liga over a switch to the far east.
