Amidst the third and final ODI between India and England at the Eden Gardens, a rather comical incident was witnessed during England’s innings, which is currently underway. It revolved around India’s skipper Virat Kohli and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The incident occurred during the 29th over of England’s innings when England skipper Eoin Morgan and Jonny Bairstow were out in the middle. On the second delivery of the over, bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, the bowler had Morgan in all sorts of trouble as he cramped him up for room.
On a delivery pitched on the middle stump line, Morgan was in no position to play, and the ball went past his bat and pad straight into the hands of Dhoni. The Indians got quite excited and went up for a caught behind appeal right away.
However, umpire Kumar Dharmasena turned it down, which was the right call at the end, since the ball didn’t hit the bat at all. Virat Kohli though, seemed galvanized and went up for a review straight away, even without consulting Dhoni.
In the video below, the incident comes to light as Kohli opts for a review while Dhoni from behind is seen telling Kohli not to do so.
