Liverpool fans will have a huge sigh of relief at least for the time being as La Liga journalist Guillem Balague has claimed Barcelona are not interested in signing Philippe Coutinho.
The Liverpool playmaker has been linked with the Catalan giants for quite time now having established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League. And the speculations became rife when former Brazil and Barcelona star Rivaldo told Sky Sports that Coutinho’s transfer to the Spanish outfit is a natural step in the future for the Liverpool star.
He had said:“In my opinion, he’s a great player and a player who knows Neymar well. I think they are both friends – players who stand out.
“I think that this transfer might happen because Barcelona is always going to attract the best, isn’t it?

“He is one of the players who stands out and I believe that this transfer – if he goes to Barcelona – would be a good thing for Barcelona for sure. He is a player who would definitely help Barcelona. Of course, Barcelona is a big club, but with a player like him, it would definitely be a big help,” he had added.
However, Balague has quashed the speculations much to the relief of Liverpool fans by saying that the Spanish giants see the Liverpool ace as forward and Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar doing so well, there is no room for any addition in the front line.
“I don’t think so,” he said.
“There has been no real interest from Barcelona for the Liverpool forward.
“I know Rivaldo has spoken about it but it doesn’t make sense because they see him as a forward and the front three will be the front three next season,” he added.
Balague’s comments will be a much-needed boost for the Merseyside outfit which is struggling to keep their title challenge on track. The Reds are now 10 points behind leaders Chelsea after suffering a shock defeat against Swansea City on Saturday.
