New Zealand's Colin Munro To Miss BBL 06 Final 1

After a nail-biting win over Brisbane Heat in semi-final, Sydney Sixers will play the grand finale of the KFC Big Bash League against Perth Scorchers on Saturday night at WACA without their recruit Colin Munro, who has returned home for the three-match One-Day international series against Australia, which will kick-start from January 30.

“I obviously want to come back. I think everybody wants to play in this competition; they can see what a great product it is,” Munro was quoted as saying by The Sydney Monday Herald.

The 29-year-old all-rounder Moises Henriques smashed 18 off five balls before setting a target of 23 for the Heat in super over. In reply, Brendon McCullum-led side could post only 15.

The Durban-born Munro was signed as the replacement for England’s Sam Billings, who had flown to India for the limited-overs series.

The 29-year-old left-handed New Zealand batsman Munro was forced to return home following the schedule of Chappell-Hadlee series.

“Playing in front of massive crowds, that’s why you play the game at this level to try and put on a show and to have some good times,” Munro added.

The players can’t travel a day before the game according to the regulations set by the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC).

The set of laws from BBL states foreign recruits must play at least one match in a season to play the final.

However, the 36-year-old England’s top-order left-handed batsman Michael Lumb is likely to make into the playing XI for Sixers.

On the other hand, Perth Scorchers will lose Shaun Marsh, who has replaced Usman Khawaja in the Australian ODI side.

The Sixers and Heat will train hard in Perth on Friday before battling for the coveted BBL 06 Title.

Munro, who made his international debutant in 2012 against South Africa in Durban, has played 31 T20Is for Black Caps, followed by 18 ODIs and one Test.
